Discipline does not necessarily require willpower and determination; discipline requires curiosity. The purpose of discipline is bigger than just accomplishment. If getting results matters, the learning dimension is the gem. Discipline is like a mirror; it will reveal some of your facets and give you an opportunity to heal yourself at a deeper level. That is where the adventure begins.
Without discipline in our lives, our life force lessens. If you only focus on what you need to accomplish while choosing a discipline, you are missing the point. Pay attention to the relationship you have with what you say you want to change. Pay attention to what you feel and think when you don’t do what you said you were going to.
Discipline is not here to develop the hero within you but to enhance the heart. Your heart can heal you and see clearly, moment to moment, where you are at with your mind, emotions, words, and actions. Discipline does not make you a champion; it creates wholeness. From there you will be able to experience inner stability in times of complete chaos.
