The turmoil of events we live in creates a new cosmic biology within us. With the knowing of tragedies – ecological, economical, human- in this world, one can question how we digest the magnitude of life’s unfolding.
We have created ongoing ama in our system. (Ama in Ayurveda is food that has not been digested properly. Ama clogs our physical and vibrational channels; it impacts our life at all levels and eventually can generate diseases.) We have learned to bypass the many steps of digestion at the physiological and psychological levels and our whole system becomes intoxicated.
We have lost connection with the intelligence of our constitution and the depth of our experience. We have forgotten how to listen. Listening happens when we let go of what we know, and when we are present to our senses and our whole experience. Listening is at the core of the digestive process: we receive, stay open, and pay attention to how we metabolize.
Digestion is a process of integration, nourishment, and elimination. It requires our physical, emotional, heart, mental, and spiritual levels to be engaged and connected. When this process is disturbed, many symptoms occur. For example, the drastically increased number of people suffering from allergies, ADHD, obesity, and autism in our culture is not only a medical problem, but also a spiritual problem.
What will it take to drop within deeper so that we can connect to our true essence, and digest instead of ingesting our whole experience? What will it take to digest our life so that true change can happen?
