Fear has a way to hide underneath behaviors and emotions. Only when we pause and call on our heart to be curious, may we realize that behind our judgment and emotions there is hurt and there is fear.
Can we live with our fears, undefended? Can we relax with them? Can we accept them fully? When our mind fights our fears, we suffer. Suffering happens when we have stopped our curiosity. Suffering happens when we feel trapped and try to push our way through with our minds rather than our hearts.
Our mind has been well-trained into fear. Fear can destroy us if we believe that what we are afraid of is real, or fear can heal us if we realize that our misaligned behaviors are fear-based. Fear can take us away from our body right in our head, or fear can bring us back into our body if we are willing to learn from it.
We can always choose to open the door to our fragility by opening our hearts, or we can live in a tsunami of constant emotional reactivities. Surrendering to the reality of our own fears with humility and compassion will open the door to stability; resisting will enhance chaos and confusion.
