Balancing the Five Elements

Balancing the five elements is essential not only to us as individuals, but to our planet.  As we go into the summer months, we see many wildfires breaking out. We know that there are many great initiatives that can impact the earth and our climate, and we can support these projects. Yet, what can we do at the personal level to be sure our five elements (earth, water, fire, air ether) stay balanced?

Each main element affects a specific chakra and plays a role at the physical, emotional, heart, mental, and spiritual levels. If we focus on the emotional impact of these elements in our lives, we may notice the following:

  • Too much earth creates apathy and lethargy.
  • Too much water creates depression.
  • Too much fire creates irritation, frustration, and anger.
  • Too much air creates anxiety and agitation.
  • Too much ether prevents any emotion and from there we experience complete dissociation.

Pause for a moment and assess yourself. What needs to shift within you to stay open, aligned, and connected with everything else?
