When you are attracted by something or someone, pause and ask yourself the question, “Does this buzz come from my gut or my heart?” Attraction is often a distraction that pulls you away from your center. It creates your own jail as it creates attachment. Any attachment leads to suffering and reactivity. The world we live in is based on attraction; notice where you are “hooked”.
Attraction in a relationship is the most dangerous form as everything becomes conditional. The mind, if not trained, can run on bargaining: if you get this, or if you do this, you will be happy, loved, accepted, safe, etc.
Make the distinction between being attracted and being touched. The first one pulls something out of you, the second is a gift you can take in. The first one creates agitation, the second one opens your heart and creates an attitude of respect.
