The Dance of Imperfection

What does it take to go from me to we in any kind of relationship? What does it take to be able to be compassionate and spacious when the other may struggle? What does it take to be able to listen instead of assuming we know? What does it take for one to express their truth despite their fear? What does it take to listen to our own fear and anxiety so that we can stay radically open and not project our unresolved wounds onto the other? What does it take to let the unknown be at the center of love? What does it take to release control and live in the spirit of exploration?

Every time we stumble, we can either shut down and grab the polarity of right and wrong or we can open our hearts. Every time we stumble, we can rigidify and go into blame, or we can learn to surrender. When we learn to dance with imperfection, we learn to embrace the parts of us or others we don’t like, we learn to detach from emotional impulses, we learn to release and let some parts of us die, and we learn to be.

At the core of every relationship, there is forgiveness so that we can be free and experience wholeness. As we approach the new year, let’s keep dancing.
