Perception is not a mental activity; it is a multidimensional process. Our perception is a combination of our experiences, belief systems, our unique blueprint in this life, and many other factors on the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels. Our perception never matches reality, even if our mind makes us think so; it reflects what is going on inside of us as our experience translates and filters our perception in a unique way.
The practice of inner curiosity, (asking and listening to all the parts within,) allows us to become less reactive and stay centered. What would happen if we chose to give a voice to all the parts within us; and hear, for example, about our inner three years old, our inner teenager, our physical self, or our emotional self?
We live in a culture and economic system that promote impulsivity. What if we were to pause and develop the capacity to be present? When this happens, we experience interconnectedness. From there, we can stay open to ourselves and the world around us.
