We are living in a culture overwhelmed with inflammation at the emotional, mental, and physical levels. Reactivity, anger, resentment, judgment, hatred, and the desire for revenge are all expressions of an inner fire that has become intensified within individuals and throughout society.
At the same time, heat is rising around us as the Earth’s temperature continues to increase year after year. We can also see this reflected in the growing number of people suffering from inflammatory conditions affecting the joints, skin, lungs, digestive system, nervous system, and more.
Each of us has a responsibility to honestly assess our own levels of inflammation and begin making the changes needed to restore balance. Healing often starts in the mind, where awareness, reflection, and conscious choice have the power to create profound transformation.
Beneath emotional or mental “fire” there is often a deeper truth: we have neglected our own needs and lost connection with ourselves. We have forgotten to slow down, listen inwardly, and remain curious about what we truly need to feel nourished and whole.
Nourishing ourselves at every level is not selfish it is essential. If we have access to food, shelter, and safety, then caring for ourselves becomes one of our most important responsibilities. Yet many of us have neglected this relationship with self in much the same way humanity has neglected its relationship with nature. Sometimes it takes a personal crisis to awaken change, yet hopefully we do not have to wait for it before choosing a different path.
No one else can nourish you in the way you can nourish yourself. It takes self-love to remain open, present, compassionate, and attentive enough to hear your authentic needs. If more people in the “developed” world truly loved themselves enough to live in a nourishing and balanced way, the collective energy of our planet would shift profoundly.
Are you willing and open?
