We live in a culture of expectancy, not in a culture of hope. Hope is led by possibilities; expectancy is led by anxiety. The essence of hope relaxes you and opens your heart; the essence of expectancy creates constriction and is led by fear.
Expectancy enhances our tendency to live in a world of complete illusion. When our mind is attached to a specific outcome, we can’t see: – clearly. Every experience we have will be perceived in relation to our expectations. In this scenario, there is no peace and no rest.
Hope is a daily practice. It teaches us to stay open and anchored in the present. It teaches us to surrender to what is. Surrendering is not giving up; surrendering is allowing the life force to unfold without trying to control it.
Hope reminds us what the path to freedom and wholeness is by inviting us to look inward. Expectations call on our abilities to strategize and anticipate by inviting our minds to look outward. Which do you choose?
With much love,
