Moderation is the yogic path. It is not a place of comfort for the mind: it wants all or nothing now and believes that excitement fun or adventure cannot exist under the concept of moderation.
If we choose that path, passion does not go away drama does. We become clearer and more sensitive without being reactive; we are more present. Our human intelligence is based on our capacity to be sensitive. From a place of sensitivity, we connect to every sentient being, plants included.
The practice of moderation is not a chore; it is the doorway to our freedom. When this happens, there is more space between our thoughts, more fluidity in our day-to-day lives, and less noise.
If you want to assess where you are with this, choose a particular area for a month. Practice moderation with food, your words, or your work. It may be a bumpy road as your thinking mind may feel limited, yet it is a necessary journey to access a new level of truth.
