The quality of steadiness is not appealing in our culture. The economic paradigm we live in thrives on change and the sensation of newness. In brief, being steady seems outdated. Yet for anything to blossom, we need steadiness.
The main challenge lies in the mind; It gets bored with steadiness. Our mind always looks for distraction and mistakes stimulations with aliveness. Disconnecting from nature, eating process food on the go, and overloading our nervous system with information have certainly enhanced our unstable mind.
Yet, we can shift this tendency if we choose to and realize that the path of steadiness can be in fact a great adventure. A steady mind is not boring or rigid; it is spacious and has the capacity to listen without being inflamed.
To develop that part of us, one of the most efficient paths is the practice of meditation. If we practice correctly with the proper guidance, through experience, through repetitions, we will develop and appreciate the path of steadiness.
Then, our life will become simpler, our peace greater and our needs smaller. We will feel held by something greater than us. We will be in touch with our infinite dimension and the infinity in everything. We become freedom.
